I had the privilege of playing a part of our church’s testimony at last Thursday’s hearing commission. I represented the young adults at SCBC and witnessed God’s hand move to lift up the future of our church that day. It was a long road to that fateful afternoon. The night before a bunch of us met for three hours to review the situation and strategy. That day the hearing lasted about 90 min. There were 150 people from Sunset present from all groups and areas of our church to show our support. 30 people gave public testimony.
I spent maybe an hour in the morning finessing what I wanted to say. I tried to dress respectably, even wore my glasses to make me look a little more intelligent. The tension and excitement was thick in the air before the hearing out in the lobby. I was pretty calm and positive, feeling somewhat hopeful. Even though the obstacles were high against us, if it was God’s will for our church, nothing really mattered. I took pictures with my handy digital camera, before and during the hearing...thinking that if the decision did come thru for us, how great would it be to have a record of this monumental day? Sharing some of the images from that milestone event in our church’s history would be a way of sharing testimony of what God did that day at City Hall. (I was also fortunate enough to take multiple shots of Pastor John’s sudden and unexpected reconstruction of the church model.) I’ll be lumps-talking pictures in 6 or so days.
