did anyone have any personal thoughts or reflections from last nite's study? i liked reading what dshinn blogged about it. one of my personal intents for this team blog would be to be a place where we can really reflect together about what we learn and try to apply in lumps.

btw, i was pleasantly surprised by the appreciation efforts of the girls. thanks!

thanks dunamis. actually i also found out today (from someone that will remain anonymous) that the 4 c's are infact Chinese, cooks, cleans, and Christian.

So in the movie, A Walk to Remember...Jamie had a list. My question is...do most girls have a list like that? Is that a way to a girl's heart? Just curious, that's all.

this sunday, pastor jeff started to introduce the the brand new church vision statement. in the months to come, his sermon series will go over each of the points, maybe a couple of sermons for each one. he gave a really great sermon today, and i highly encourage people to try to hear some of his sunday sermons, because it's so important to our churches direction. here's the statement...

SCBC Vision Statement

We are a Great Commission Church
Dedicated to changing the lives in the San Francisco Bay Area through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

1. We envision our people walking intimately with God so that our ministry is based not upon guilt or obligation, but a passion and commitment to Jesus Christ.

2. We envision boldly proclaiming the word of God so that our people will unswervingly uphold the teaching of Christ in all facets of their lives.

3. We envision our people honoring and glorifying God through excellent worship.

4. We envision discipling believers through individuals, small groups and organized instruction.

5. We envision people serving the local church with their giftedness.

6. We envision people experiencing a sense of community within our local church.

7. We envision our people sharing the gospel with thousands of people both locally and abroad.

8. We envision our people exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit by being loving towards one another and by being compassionate towards those who are truly in need.

9. We envision a larger facility that will accommodate our growth and provide balanced ministry.

today's message was about real worship, and was based on matthew 28:1 (the resurrection scene). quickie sum-up. what does it take to walk with god? what is real worship? there were 2 reactions. by the roman guards and by the jews/women. fear is important, but not key. for the real worship then, there was no sermon and no music. (that would be pretty unheard of if we were to think of sunday worship.) real worship is to adore him without anything going on. too often we think "excellent worship = manufactured worship." (how often do you hear christians say that they couldn't worship b/c of the music or b/c of the speaker?) ultimately it's a realization of who jc is, nothing external.
